Put on by my sister Bonnie, founder of Jolly Good Events, the 1940's themed fundraiser was a hit and raised over $5,000 to go towards buying land for a school in Uganda in the Teso sub-region and Ngora district which has been devastated by the spread of HIV/AIDS, famine and extreme poverty. Jireh Community Outreach initiative aims to work with orphans and vulnerable children in these regions, specifically targeting education to build a sustainable future. Their goal is to reach over 3000 orphans and vulnerable children. They are currently needing to buy 5 acres of land (at around $2,500/acre) on which to build permanent classrooms, offices, a playground and land for farming (in this way the school will become self-sustainable).
