Le Mélomane (1903) "Cinemagie" by Georges Méliès was on top of the visual effects capabilities in the early 20th century, using up to 7 video layers in this particular film.
The original music is composed and recorded by Lawrence Lehérissey (from the Méliès family)
My intention in sound designing this film was to give it a modest modern touch trough "early 1900" styled sound and various surreal effects altering it's obvious old-schoolish magic as less as possible.
The introductory dialogue are excerpted from an interview given by Méliès himself.
Most of his work is available around the web.
