An EETD Seminar on September 18, 2013 - Speaker, Wang Shi , Founder & Chairman of China Vanke
Chinese urbanization is moving millions of new people into cities each year. For every two homes built on the earth, one is in China. Although still developing, China already consumes half of the world's cement and steel, and is the biggest producer of carbon emissions. How can China meet its massive housing construction demand without destroying the environment?
Wang Shi is the Founder and Chairman of China Vanke, the largest real estate enterprise in China and the largest residential real estate developer in the world. China Vanke was founded in 1988 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 1991 as the second listed company in China. In 2012, Vanke developed approximately 200 million square feet of housing and has an additional 400 million square feet in the development pipeline. Vanke builds more than half of China's green buildings.
