McFarland & Pecci Presents “In the Hunt”, a New Kind of Fashion Video for Ball & Buck
ft. Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage and Maxim Girl Minji Cho
Fashion videos are notorious for resorting to the same old tropes that have persisted for ages. Models posed on abstract backgrounds, or lounging against urban/idyllic backdrops. Occasionally there’s a story set somewhere impossibly luxe and exotic. Well, it wouldn’t be a Ball and Buck video if we didn’t do things differently.
Directed by award-winning director and photographer Mike Pecci, “In the Hunt” plays with expectations, showing how a real man who exemplifies the Ball & Buck lifestyle out in the field might find himself hunted elsewhere.
“In the Hunt” stars Jesse Leach, lead singer of American metalcore band Killswitch Engage, and Maxim model/designer Minji Cho. It was inspired in part by William Claxton’s iconic photograph of Steve McQueen eating, and in part by hunting poetry. “It’s kind of a hunted-becomes-hunter tale,” says writer Rich Tseng. “A man who’s comfortable in his style and who he is exudes that everywhere, even with something as mundane as eating.” For Pecci, “looking good is about throwing quality clothes together simply, and just filling your closet with stuff that can be just tossed on with no effort.”
Combine all that with an originally-composed score by Mike Tran, aka DJ Voltran, and production by McFarland & Pecci (Mcfarlandandpecci.com), and the end result is rugged elegance in a video that’s hard for anyone to resist.
