07:05:04 minutes of racing action, that takes you into the pit, the driver´s seat and on the hazardous track of the legendary Nürburgring.
Watch RaceUnion Teichmann Racing setting benchmarks during the 41. ADAC Zurich 24h Race, 2013 – orchestrated by an outstanding team and Patrick Pulsinger´s legendary tune.
Races pivot on single, split-second moments: A micro-pressure pulse of the throttle or faintest twitch of the brake. Everything is possible, nothing predictable, and judgement calls are the difference between the wave of a chequered flag or the cold, thudding embrace of the tyre barrier. Apply this mantra to 24 hours of non-stop racing on what is widely regarded as the most challenging track in the world, and you've got limitless potential for definitive flashes of action.
BENCHMARKS brings a cut-and-paste showreel of 1000s of edge-of-your-seat moments into sharp focus. Through noir-esque imagery of the Raceunion Teichman Racing team, the viewer is transported directly into the melee: Pinpoint pit stops, clipped corners, and metal-on-metal crunches. As captured by acclaimed Vienna-based photographer Lukas Gansterer, it’s a subtle reminder of the golden age of motor racing. An almost festishized portrait of the machines and the protagonists where the brutal potential of the race lurks ever-present in the background.
During such critical, heart-in-mouth instances of daring, the garish ticker tape of logos fade to a distant blur, a thousand screaming voices soften to a mere gargle. It is survival based on reactions to the most minute and vital stimuli, leaving the driver at times seemingly still-born in seat of his car, a detached glaze across the eyes. At once disconnected, yet ultimately tuned-in. All senses distorted, his dilated pupils entranced by the dark asphalt ahead.
The accompanying video from Berlin-based creative think tank 87KMH is soundtracked by the jazz musician and sports car aficionado Patrick Pulsinger: The dulcet tones and suspended vibraphone chimes are juxtaposed with the raw mechanical whirr of the Nürburgring. As the audio backdrop to the proceedings drifts on, the sun falls and then rises again. A thick fog descends and rain starts to lash. Treacherous conditions or not, the race goes on and on…
