An empty coal train speeds west with a hard working DPU.
Skies were starting to clear after a fair amount of rain over the past few days. So, after completing a few Saturday chores, I drove in the early afternoon to one of my nearby "go to" locations on the Union Pacific's Geneva sub. The Francis Road grade crossing has decent spots to set up for trains in both directions. A couple of other chasers had arrived before me and were taking photos. The first train to pass was this westbound empty coal train.
I had considered shortening this video by editing out a portion of the train. But since it's moving right along and is only a couple of minutes in length, I left it all in. Made a few to and from cuts to keep it interesting. And I didn't show the going away closing shot 'cause someone wasn't thinking (me) and left their parked car in the scene. I could cover the car in the opening going away shot by not cutting to it until the train blocked the car from view.
