"Eadweard James Muybridge (/ˌɛdwərd ˈmaɪbrɪdʒ/; 9 April 1830 – 8 May 1904) was an English photographer important for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion and in motion-picture projection. He adopted the name Eadweard Muybridge, believing it to be the original Anglo-Saxon form of his name."
IR is slowly ushering in a new form of studying human motion, something for the 21st Century. This video showcases some early prototype testing of the concept of 4D scanning. The idea of scanning human subjects, over time. Known as 4D, or Videogrammetry.
The animation is choppy, because the model was scanned very slowly over a period of time, similar to stop motion animation. RAW scans from Agisoft using the new dense point cloud process. 250k per frame. Around 2 million polygons on screen at once, per frame. 4K texture. 4 textures per shader. COL, "A,OC,C", SPC, NM.
This process once perfected will offer incredible opportunities for motion vision research and motion capture. Not only can the data be used to study human movement, fat rolling / sliding, muscle movement, tendon twitching, skin colour changes etc The data can also be used as motion capture to drive other rigs. It offers dual purpose, far more advanced than traditional motion capture.
Once the processing software is multi-GPU supported and cloud network processing integrated, processing times could shrink from a few hours to a few minutes, per frame. Play back is trivial.
This is a proof of concept to show the possibilities of the technology. If you can imagine the fluidity of these scans being capture at between 60fps-120fps and being played back at 24fps-48fps (with motion blur) At the moment these are about 5fps, as stop motion.
IR is in the process of designing the cameras and systems that will be deployed to record at very high frame rates.
I strongly believe 4D scanning will revolutionize the computer graphics industry and have huge cultural impacts on society, possibly even the future of human / robotic evolution. We will be able to analyze and train advanced motion rigs, AI and animatronics based on this acquired data. Helping to improve AI and future Robotics.

Thanks for viewing.
PS. Something I've learnt from the mighty interwebs and "Youtube". If you make a video of semi naked girl, your a misogynist. If you make a video of a semi naked guy, your a gay man. Moral of the story, you can't win :)
Big thanks to drash for all his coding'fu on the scripts and awesome control sets, and Charles for his shader conversion, some really powerful tools.
Special thanks to Unity3D, Marmoset Co and OculusVR. HDRI's from DOSCH.
