The War in Ukraine and its Consequences for Europe and NATO: A Conversation with Ulf Brunnbauer and Soeren Urbansky

On 24 February 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine. Half a year later, the outcome of the ongoing war in Ukraine is still open. What has become clear, however, is that Ukraine is dependent on continuous financial and military support from its European and US allies. This is complicated in turn by Europe's dependency on Russian oil and gas to power its economy. IES invites you for a conversation on the war and its consequences for Europe and NATO with two experts on Russian and Ukrainian history, Ulf Brunnbauer, Director of the Institute for East and Southeast European Studies at the University of Regensburg, and Soeren Urbansky, historian of Russia at the German Historical Institute Washington. This event will be moderated by IES Director Jeroen Dewulf and Associate Director Akasemi Newsome.
