It is strongly disputed in our post-modern, pluralistic, relativistic day that any human ever has spoken for the living God in a divinely inspired, truthful, binding, authoritative sense. Whether it be Moses, Aristotle, Jesus, Paul, Mohammed, Gandhi, or Lady Gaga, all the world’s famous teachers are merely human beings speaking an earthly message. As a result, we are free to pick and choose who we want to listen to, conveniently placing ourselves in the seat of highest authority. But Jesus’ Apostle Paul claims something altogether different to be true about his gospel, insisting that he and the other Apostles were uniquely and directly commissioned by God to speak His words. If this is true (and it is!), this is really, really good news for all of us.
