This is my first experimental video. I was recently asked an interesting question - "In a certain light, wouldn't nuclear war actually be exciting?" At first, I disagreed. Then I thought, "as long as no one gets injured or killed, then, yes, I guess nuclear war would be rather fascinating." My goal was to try to bring out the beauty in bombs and explosions. The way the smoke clouds develop and expand is truly mesmerizing. I also found physical similarities between the explosions and blossoming flowers. I used several graphic matches to juxtapose these similarities. This whole video is a juxtaposition between life and death, beauty and horror, black and white and color, organic and chemical, slow motion and time lapse, etc.
This is made entirely of found footage/audio.
I found my content on archive.org and youtube.
It was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
