Combining technology, programming, hundreds of hours of footage and a lot of metadata, Getty Images video collection became the focal point for a unique, interactive experience brought to life at this year's Cannes Lions festival.
Conceived by award-winning London video artists The Light Surgeons, the combination of streaming video and metadata created the opportunity to take a playful journey through Getty Images video archive. From early archive footage to the latest hyper lapse video, visitors used hand gestures to select keywords and reveal conceptual relationships between moving images and words.
Using thousands of keywords and video clips, open frameworks programming , Xbox Kinect motion sensors and a wall of plasma screens, an immersive experience was created to reveal the conceptual relationships between moving images and words.
Ambient sounds sourced from Getty Images music library provided the soundtrack to the installation, which made its first appearance at the 60th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and then again at Spikes Asia in Singapore.
