This is the trailer for 'Killing Lincoln' that I made for National Geographic in the hot and humid Virginia summer of 2012. The film aired in March of 2013 to record audiences for Nat Geo and was their first foray into scripted drama. It was another visit to the 'America' of the 1860's for me, after shooting 'Gettysburg' for the History Channel two years earlier. The story of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln reads like fiction and was a fantastic tale to bring to life. We shot over 14 days in both Richmond VA and in Washington where I was able to trace the past in the actual locations, on the holy ground where events had taken place. At one point while shooting at the Whitehouse of the Confederacy in Richmond VA I was directing my 'Lincoln' cast, Billy Cambell, to put his feet exactly on the spot where Lincoln himself had walked 150 years ago.
