"We Need New Names" was launched at the National Gallery in Bulawayo at an event sponsored by British Council in association with Ama Books and Bulawayo Agenda. NoViolet Bulawayo's first novel "We Need New Names" has been nominated for the Guardian First Book Award and shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2013.
NoViolet is the first African woman to be nominated for this prize. The book was launched in the author's hometown of Bulawayo in front of an audience of 350 people.
The novel is published in Zimbabwe by Weaver Press and distributed in Bulawayo by Ama Books.
