'Rhinos Without Borders' is a bold effort to transfer the rhino from South African private reserves to the safe haven of Botswana. Rhino are increasingly under siege by poachers, particularly in South Africa. Well over 1,000 animals will be killed in 2014 if poaching increases at the current rate and extinction in the not too distant future is a reality if poaching goes uncurbed. The President and his associates reinforced Botswana's pledge to fully protect the animals and warned poachers to stay away or suffer dire consequences. Botswana's track record for protecting wildlife make it the clear conservation leader in Africa. The highly respected Botswana Defense Force is overseen by the President himself. President Khama and his brother T.K. Khama form a formidable force against poachers entering their country and poachers have learned that President Khama is serious and his troops adhere to his policy of 'shoot to kill, ask questions later'.
