In the Summer of 2013, I set off on a 3785 mile, three week motorcycle ride across the United States. I rode a 1979 Honda CX500, one of Honda’s classic early touring bikes.
My route took me through some of the most beautiful scenery in the United States. Up the Columbia River, through Glacier National Park, across the Tetons in Wyoming, through the Badlands of South Dakota, and over the Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin.
I stayed everywhere from tiny, one stoplight towns, to time in Detroit and Chicago.
What I traveled with was pretty basic. A single Osprey hiking backpack with clothes, laptop/chargers, a sleeping bag and some other basic camping gear. Motorcycle saddlebags with tools, rain gear, and an emergency fuel canister. A tank bag containing my phone, books and Moleskine.
