Acoustic levitation employs sound radiation to lift objects. It mostly deals with non-linear phenomenon (since the resulting force on the object is due to non linear properties of wave motion).
By 2013, acoustic levitation had progressed from motionless levitation to controllable moving hovering objects, an ability useful in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries.
An acoustic levitation chamber was designed and built in 1987 as a micro-gravity experiment for NASA related subject matter.
