Treasure Coast

Here is an animation that I made for a show that was pitched to the Discovery channel and to Fox. This was a reality tv pilot about some treasure hunters in florida. I wanted to keep things subtle, so I didn’t explode the text or anything. All I did was slowly move the text, animate the compass, and create a rich background. I originally hoped the logo would be used on top of an awesome ariel sunset tropical coastal shot, but alas it didn’t happen. I used an old paper texture with a map image from flickr.

Geek stuff:
I had to break apart the compass from a still image using photoshop. I recreated the compass behind the needle with the clone tool so that I could move it. I have several animated cloud particle movies. The first one interacts with the logo, and the other one interacts with the map in the background. The maze dots piece was made with the shape tool. Lastly, I added a solid with a circular inverted mask to create the vignette. The transfer mode on this layer really popped the colors and created more contrast in the sequence. Oh, and the music track is another amazing piece from Smartsound.
