Probably crowd funding is not the most obvious way to fund doctoral work, yet in the time of research cuts, it seems to be an exciting alternative.
The whole story begins with coal that used to be called Poland’s "black gold”. From the late 40s, in order to promote it on the international market, the state commissioned the best creative professionals to design trade fair displays that would impress audiences around the globe. These exhibitions – prepared by visionary graphic designers, architects, painters and musicians – are part of the bigger narrative that I am trying to explore.
