My assignment is to study how people interact with art as a social event. How do people pursue art? Would they rather view it, create it, or ignore it? Are they wiling to associate with strangers for a few minutes in this pursuit? How does a piece of art choreograph the circulation of a public realm? I laid out a blank sheet of paper with some markers in Copley Square and let the public determine it's fate. Upon this investigation I learned that most people are interested in art and are more than willing to partake in it. The paper could have been an obnoxious obstacle disturbing peoples' paths; rather than ignore this "wall" I put in their way, people encouraged it.
