GPCC Awards evening and presentation of cheque to Macmillan on 27 September 2013 at Virgin Active.
Thanks to Bob Brolly MBE and Scott from SDL Entertainments for helping make the evening memorable.
Inspired by last year’s London Olympic games and determined to keep the legacy alive, we had the crazy idea of cycling to all 62 gold postboxes in the UK, which were painted in honour of our gold medal winners.
We called it the Gold Postbox Cycle Challenge.
Cycling from our offices in Solihull and Coventry, we cycled to every gold postbox over a 3-month period (July to September 13) – that’s more than 3,600 miles.
In the process we raised £30,000 for cancer support charity, Macmillan, through both individual and corporate donations/sponsorship.
None of us were professional cyclists – indeed many of us had got on a bike for the first time in many years.
So the challenge not only presented a great opportunity to raise money for a great cause, it also gives a great excuse to get on our bikes and have some fun.
The website goldpostboxcyclechallenge.co.uk gives information about the challenge, the locations of all the gold postboxes and our routes to them and who took part,
