On September 21, 2013, I premiered my vibratory sound piece, Organ of Corti at the EAST LA REP in Los Angeles CA. The five hour performance/ installation consisted of five Sound Beds and two Sound Suits. i performed the sound live. The audience members were given ear plugs and a blue balloon. Wearing the ear plugs enhanced the tactile nature of the sound waves. The balloons, holding the inflated balloon by their finger tips, offered a way to feel the vibrations of the music. The nine speaker system projected my sound work generated by my Iso Cube, oscillators, field recordings and sound loops. The audience was encouraged to try laying on the various Sound Beds which vibrated and shook with the live sound. There were also two Sound Suits which had more subtle sound loop projected through their individual multi-speaker set ups. They could also walk around the space and find sweet spots holding their balloons. The objective was to transform the space into a ocean of sound and to experiment with the tactility of sound.
