Combined PET/CT imaging has become a routine imaging technique in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine alike. In this regard a thorough understanding of this modality’s quality assurance and control procedures including acceptance testing is a necessary pre-requisite to ensure the optimal performance of this imaging modality. This session is designed to explain the QA and QC procedures for a PET/CT scanner with examples from two different manufacturers. The session will also cover the frequency of these tests and the elements to implement a QA/QC program for PET/CT imaging. Finally the session will cover the NEMA standard for acceptance testing of PET scanners and their meanings as well as additional recommended tests for hybrid (PET/CT) systems.

3. Identify and trouble shoot possible sources of failure in daily QA
