The Hollyford hoedown is an annual pilgrimage undertaken by the Canterbury University kayaking club. Although not as old as other club trips, it has exceeded itself every year to become one of the premier trips – not to be missed. The journey starts in Christchurch and makes its way to Fiordland, one of the most dramatic and beautiful parts of New Zealand. Rivers channel their way down spectacular ice-carved fiords, rugged granite tops and pristine mountain to sea vistas. In 2013 an action packed schedule included kayaking multiple sections the Kawarau, Mararoa, Hollyford, Tutoko and Arthur rivers.
