Welcome to the imaginary city of DROMe. A city where everything is possible, a centre where interferences rule, where silence wins over noise and where other people's gaze touches your skin. A city whose inhabitants live in sky-high crystal pile-dwellings or inside glass balls filled with reflections. A city like the ones described by Italo Calvino in 'Invisible Cities'. A city where everything is created and destroyed in the space of a day, where each thing exists as itself and as it's reflection as if in a mirror. A city that is suspended from thin strings: ethereal, surreal, imperceptible.
It is from this atemporal place, the imaginary DROMe-city, that Marianna Rosati starts the tale leading her SS 2014 collection, played around chromatic contrasts and surfaces rich in interference: nappa mixed with jersey, pierced, printed and laser-cut leather that create a new sophisticated language. Tight-fit tops mark the waist with pierced ruffles, while small jackets may be very light, floating away from the body, or instead bicolour and rigid, resulting in a monolithic look that makes use of a more geometric 'A' silhouette.
Ultra-tight skirts, sometimes reaching under the knee, are matched with maxi-striped crop tops that recall the 50's, or with monochromatic mini t-shirts. The perforated motifs chase each other in this collection marked by transparencies, whose elements are linked together with thin strings.
Hexagonal pierced motifs are chosen for the luxurious plongè leather, micro-squares for the basic nappa, net, flowers and circles for the vegetal nappa. Macro polka dots are instead preferred for the biker nappa, in contrast with the mini ones used for the plongè, paired up with a very delicate compact cotton double. More interference comes into play for the varnished leather, printed in an optical black and white check and then pierced to make the print imperceptible.
Interferences chase each other even in the colour palette. A dusty sky blue defines the atmosphere of the DROMe city, then evolving towards the darker shades of the black and nautilus used in the romantic ruffled mini dresses. Nude is mixed with White and Black. The essential shapes and compact surfaces of the leather dresses follow a powerful chromatic scale in the nuances of electric blue, apple green and lipstick pink.
