In 2012, Vallejo, California became the first city in the U.S. to approve participatory budgeting citywide. Over the course of the budget year, more than 4,000 residents and stakeholders helped decide how to spend over $3 million in tax revenue. This short video, produced by Jake Nicol, documents Vallejo's first year of PB.
