Specific targeting of tumors through selective molecules has become a promising approach in Oncology. My research consists of using small receptor-binding peptides to target breast and prostate tumors overexpressing NPY1 and GRP receptors. Radiofluorinated peptides with PET imaging are used to detect these cancers.
The dance begins with the production of the radionuclides by a cyclotron. These radionuclides are then labelled with peptides and injected into the subject. The cancer cells expressing the corresponding peptide receptor will accumulate the radiolabelled peptides that will be detected on whole body PET imaging.
