The 4th annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival (SVAFF) presents 32 films by Africa's seasoned and emerging filmmakers in one weekend (October 11-13, 2013). Opening ceremony starts with a lobby and Red Carpet reception at 5:30PM on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, followed by the screening of the festival's opening night film, 2013 Cannes Vulcan award winning film "GriGris" from Chad.
SVAFF 2013 will host many premieres, including the US premiere of the controversial South African film "Of Good Report" that was banned and unbanned in South Africa a few months ago. Other exciting films include: "The Last Fishing Boat" from Malawi, "Le President" from Cameroon, "Imbabazi - the Pardon" from Rwanda, "Dead River" from Namibia, "Mdundiko" from Tanzania, "ADAMT" from Ethiopia, "Impresa!" from Eritrea, "The Route" from Kenya, the US premiere of "Children's Republic" from Guinea Bissau (starring Danny Glover), etc. A special feature of the 2013 festival will be a forum titled “African Women in Technology – a future of promise!” on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 4:00PM. The forum presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Network and the Institute of International Education will feature an illuminating conversation with Africa's next generation of women leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, visiting from 16 countries.
