We were very surprised that magic-lantern gave us as well as every other dslrfreak the ability to shoot raw 14 bit video on our 5D. At this stage the resolution is reduced to 1872*784 in the 2:39 aspect, but the dynamic range is expanded. You really notice the increasement in dynamic range, I rarely see overexposed areas in the final edit, except if i`m filming directly into a strong light source. I think the dynamic range is extended from 10 stops during normal video recording on the 5D to 11,9 stops using the raw magic lantern capture.

The negative thing about shooting raw is that the files are a lot larger. A 10 second clip can be about 1,5GB. Acctually I've haad some trouble opening clips over 4gb. I love shooting raw, and we will consider the 5D with this format for the future of Firestorm Productions. The clips have been shot In London over a time period of 5 days and Oslo, Norway. Lenses used is the 50mm f1,4 Canon lens, and the 16-35mm f2,8 L series lens.
