The Caña is a flamenco style whose lyrics often contain grievances against king or landowners. The clean rivers of Asturias in northern Spain inspired me to sing this modernised version with my own improvised lyrics, recorded in the days following the ecofeminist workshop at Laboral Centre of Art (Gijon) given by Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens. Thanks to Diana Pornoterrosita for her help on that incredible journey!
LA CAÑA ES UN PALO DEL FLAMENCO Y HAY UNA QUE TIENE LETRAS EN CONTRA DEL REY Y LOS TERRATENIENTES. LOS AGUAS LIMPIOS DE ASTURIAS ME INSPIRARON A CANTAR ESTE VERISON MODERNIZADO CON MIS LETRAS IMPROVISADAS, GRABADO UNOS DIAS DESPES DEL TALLER ECOFEMINISTA EN EL LABORLA CENTRO DE ARTE EN GIJON, IMPARTIDO POR ANNIE SPRINKLE Y BETH STEPHENS. GRACIAS A DIANA PORNOTERRORISTA POR AYUDARME A REALIZAR ESTE VIAJE TAN ESPECIAL!!
