I have been a 2D, 3D artist for over 20yrs and I have always used a Wacom tablet. I recently came across this brand and thought I would give it a try. While unboxing it I could tell instantly that it was lighter than the Wacom counterpart. This is a good thing as you can sit with it on your lap for a long time. The overall built quality is very good. The active area is a nice size 10" x 6", personally I could have lived with it having a little grain on the surface just to give it a paper feel. There is a nice selection of buttons (express keys) on the side of the tablet that can be mapped to what fits your needs, including opening applications. There are also 16 numbered tabs ( function keys) that run along the top of the tablet that can also be mapped to fit your needs. This should be more than enough to help keep you away from your keyboard while drawing, painting, etc.
The pen has a nice balance to the weight even with the AAA battery inside. I do miss the rubber on the end of the pen though. On this pen the rubber has been lost due to the click on and click off button. It comes with a nice pen holder ( although this could have done with an ink well type hole to stand the pen in rather than just laying down the pen). Inside the stand you can find the spare nibs and nib tool. Installing the device on my Mac was easy with no issues at all.
I have tried the tablet with sketchbook pro, ArtRage Pro, Painter 12 and everything works as it should, the 2048 levels pressure works a treat in all the applications. There was no lag at all when working with 3k images. The tablet installs with tabletsetting application so you can set up the pressure strength and button mapping with no issues. All in all this is a strong competitor to other leading high end tablet manufacturers, but without the big price tag. I would suggest this to my hobbyist and professional friends when looking to purchase a tablet. I might post a video of me using it at a later date. Bottom line this doesn't feel like i am using a £47 pen tablet at all.
