The Music was recorded at Black Box Studios. The original tracking was done on a 16 track Studder tape machine. The drums were recorded in a symphonic fashion with the kick drum and several snares recorded individually and with different types striking devices that ranged from sticks and brushes on the snares to a large plush mallet on the kick drum. The String and horn arrangement was composed using a Hammond M100 organ. The strings were recorded using narrow pick up pattern condenser mics placed 2 to 3 feet away and another large diaphragm omni-directional ribbon mic between them to capture the room sound. The ribbon mic was then copied to another channel and inverted to get the stereo effect of the mic and avoid phase. The guitars were recorded using all tube amps with a very traditional close mic technique and later processed through some preamps for warmth. The bass was recorded direct and by miking the amp. The latency was handled using the Pro Tools HD delay compensation. The horns were recorded simply with a staggered miking technique.
