My film/video artwork often concerns the relationship of humankind to the landscape. Cloud Lightning depicts the transition of New England landscape from a colorful setting without humanity to a monochromatic setting without nature.
I was inspired by the National Science Foundation’s Long Term Ecological Research exhibit theme of ‘ecological reflections’. This piece emphasizes clouds, trees and light. In Spanish, a language of my youth, the title would be ‘Nubes y Arboles‘ — ‘Clouds and Trees’.
Special thanks to Harvard Forest for supporting my filmmaking during my Artist Residency there. Additional scenes were filmed in the City of Newton and the City of Boston for my MFA thesis at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.
