Project Everlast was awarded the Roots of Justice Award at the 2013 Good Apple Awards on October 10, 2013 in Omaha.
The award recognizes grassroots advocates who have made outstanding contributions to justice and opportunity for all and have helped build a stronger community together.
Project Everlast, a council of youth who are in foster care or have experience in the foster care system, was instrumental in designing and advocating for LB 216, which passed in the 2013 Nebraska Legislative session. LB 216 creates a system of voluntary transitional services and support for young people as they age out of the foster care system and enter adulthood.
