In the long history of the Jewish people, no century brought more trauma and change than the 20th century. That means the Jewish life our grandchildren will celebrate will be nothing like the Jewish life our grandparents cherished. In this remarkable century, a series of great thinkers came forward to reinterpret the meaning of Judaism and the project of the Jewish people. Martin Buber, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Joseph Soloveitchik, Mordecai Kaplan re-thought and reinvented Jewish life for a new era. This year, our VBS College of Jewish Studies invites you to meet these great thinkers and to share their wonderous discovery of news ways to come close to Torah and God.
