Huaka'i, Archaeological Field School. June 24 to June 29, 8am - 2pm. Cultural-historical overview of Lāna‘i's history through an interpretive/educational program. Recommended for rising 7-12th grades and graduates from the class of 2013.
Under the guidance of Lānaʻi filmmaker, Anthony Ka‘auamo Pacheco, apprentice filmmakers Kyle Yamada, Nicholas Niimi, and Kaimana Riel, uploaded and edited footage direct from the field.
Tasked to create virtual tours of Lānaʻiʻs storied places, a draft of their completed documentary was aired on Saturday, June 29th at a presentation to the Lānaʻi community.
A part of E ʻIke Hou iā Lānaʻi, the filmmakers apprenticeship program is sponsored by the Native Hawaiian Education Act Grant. A cultural-historical overview of Lāna‘i’s history through an interpretive/educational program with the Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center.
