This video is about the installation, The Manifold People, by artist Donald Gary Fodness.
Donald Fodness is a local artist that received his MFA in painting form the University of Colorado; Boulder, CO in 2010.
Below is an artist statement written by Don.
The Manifold People are non-gendered humanoid forms that reference muffler men, which are a quasi-American blue-collar folk art.
By using a manifold instead of a muffler, I am able to have these figures conjure complex systems of the body, or other networks that explore multiplicity.
A manifold is something with multiple inlets into one exit or vice versa. Most of these figures repeat the same orifice as a way to subvert a binary hierarchy.
