I heard that the new Hero3+ lens was sharper than the lens on the Hero 3, but it appears that only things up close are more in focus, while things further back are actually less sharp. I personally like things further away to be sharp because I'm using my Hero3+ for aerial video where nothing is really close to the camera, but still at 100% the image looks good, and the tiny loss of detail doesn't really affect the overall look of the image. I also think it's possible that the Hero3 has more crushed blacks, which adds to the appearance of detail. Aside from sharpness I find the Hero3+ to have more4 accurate color, and less color fringing, which is great.
This video was shot in the standard setting (non ProTune) at 1080p30 in wide mode. In ProTune you do your own color grading & sharpening, so I'm not really concerned about the image in the standard setting.
