Cardiff Council's £13.3 million project has been a long time in the making. Snugly tucked away next to the glinting glass structure of the international swimming pool ten minutes outside of the city centre – White Water seems to have sprung up quietly – and neatly confines itself to a modest-sized chunk of the River Ely, between Penarth Marina and the Bay.
Much has been done to promote CIWW's status as the only Olympic-standard sized canoe slalom course which, like the international swimming pool.
I was dubious when I learned about this white knuckle attraction. Anyone who’s had the pleasure of genuine white water rapids would be. A visit to their bayside establishment soon put those thoughts to rest; if anything, its artificial set-up makes for an even better experience... They control just how wild your ride is! It also makes them a very popular training ground for budding canoeists.
