Michael Essa pilots the BMW E46 drift car and serves as the Director of Motorsports for GSR Autosport. A competitive racer since the age of 17, he entered the Red Bull Formula Drift ProAm Nationals in 2008 and finished 3rd place. In 2009, Michael made his rookie debut in Formula Drift Pro Series. As a privateer and with a limited budget, he consistently qualified for the main rounds of competition, earning respect of veteran drivers. On Saturday October 12th, 2013, Michael Essa became the Formula Drift Champion on their ten year anniversary despite an engine failure in the first run.
