In the Old Testament, a common theme was the how often and quick the Israelite people forgot about God. And so the prophets, one of their theme is the word "remember." On the last night of Jesus life, He took two ordinary objects and infused them with new meaning. Jesus took bread and broke and said, "This bread is my body broken for you; whenever you eat this, remember me." And then he took a cup of wine and said, "this is my blood, shed for the forgiveness of sins; whenever you drink this, remember me."
