Argos launches own-brand tablet
MyTablet will retail for £99.99 and goes on sale from Wednesday 16th October
The tablet will run Google's Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system and will come pre-loaded with free apps and games
Percentage of Argos sales via mobile devices (which include tablets) is now 15%
With only 70 days until Christmas, Argos, a leading digital, catalogue and high street retailer, has launched its first own brand tablet which will go on sale from tomorrow (Wednesday 16th October).
MyTablet will retail for £99.99 and the 7 inch tablet comes with free pre-loaded games and apps (including the Argos app so users can shop straight away) and is enabled for internet browsing, TV, music and video streaming and social networking.
Powered by a 1.6GHz dual core processor, it has a bright and clear 7 inch, 1024x600 resolution LCD glass screen and features 8GB of memory which with a Micro SD port which can support up to 32 GB with a Micro SD Card.
Google's Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system enables access to millions of apps as well as Google Play. The device has been designed with families in mind offering all the functionality of a traditional tablet with built in parental controls for younger users.
The MyTablet, which is available in pink or silver premium metal cases is ready to use with pre-loaded apps including BBC iPlayer, Angry Birds and e-Book reader, Aldiko.
The device has a built in two mega pixel camera plus a front facing camera to meet the increasing trend for Skyping friends and family. In addition it is Wi-Fi enabled with Bluetooth capabilities and pre-loaded Facebook and Twitter apps to help people keep in touch whether at home or on the move.
Recent research from Argos shows that the most popular uses for tablets include playing games (61%), social networking (49%), listening to music (37%), homework (34%) and sending emails (30%). MyTablet's varied functions have been specifically designed as the ideal companion for education and play.
