Born and raised in Richmond, VA, Amy Perkinson began her dance training in attendance at the Appomattox Regional Governors School for the Arts and Technology. Currently, she is seeking a dual degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Dance in Choreography and Business Administration/International Business. Since her time at VCU, she has had the privilege of studying abroad with the Semester at Sea program, as well as the Consorzio Universitario Mediterraneo Orientale A R.L (CUMO) in Sicily, Italy. Recently she performed at New York City's Lincoln Center in Mark Dendy’s world premiere of “Ritual Cyclical.” Amy has worked with VCU faculty James Frazier, Martha Curtis, Christian von Howard, Autumn I. Proctor, Robbie Kinter, as well as guest artist Kate Weare.
As a senior in Virginia Commonwealth University's Department of Dance and Choreography, the capstone experience encompasses a final piece choreographed by each senior. This process begins with a written concept proposal and is developed into a full choreographic production to be presented upon the stage of Richmond's Grace Street Theater.
To make these final projects possible, the students must supply their own costumes as well as any additional theatrical elements needed for their ideas come to life. We graciously ask for your help in funding the costuming for our creative work. Any minor or major contributions are wonderfully appreciated.
VCU Dance Fall Senior Projects 2013: Ergo Sum, will be performed at Grace Street Theater in Richmond, VA from November 20th-23rd.
