Introduced by Thomas Bartscherer
Part of the ROSTRUM series, hosted by The Language and Thinking Program at Bard College languageandthinking.bard.edu/
Eban Goodstein is the Director of the Bard Center for Environmental Policy. He spoke in the Multi-Purpose Room of Bertelsman Campus Center on the Bard Campus on August 15, 2013.
Journalist Jeff Goodell, quoted in a Rolling Stone article this summer: “Goodbye, Miami: By century’s end, rising sea levels will turn the nation’s urban fantasyland into an American Atlantis. But long before the city is completely underwater, chaos will begin". Does this have to be the future (for Miami, and New York, and Shanghai, and Buenos Aires, and Venice, and London)? And what does this mean for the way we all live our lives today? This talk focuses on fatalism, activism, and global warming.
