A image film commissioned by the ADA to show the King of Saudi Arabia, their ambitious plan to develop a Metro rail system, for the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. Produced by The Mill UK. The production team lead by Producer, Rupert Greaves and Creative Director, Russell Tickner, assembled an international crew consisting of 20 personnel to shoot the project. The core crew including multi awarding combo of Director, Jonathan Director and myself (Grant Douglas) as cinematographer, were brought on board for the month long production. The Main Unit shot for 2 weeks and utilised Arri Alexa cameras and grip equipment supplied by Panavision, London. The 2nd unit camera unit team featured our long time friend and collaborator, Selva Ganapathy. The time lapse unit used Canon 1DX cameras and Panavision lenses. For the aerial footage we used Saudi military helicopters, with the Tyler mini-gyro rig as well as the Helicam ( with RED camera) onboard.
After the completion of filming in Saudi the crew went to London to film the complex green screen moves for the 3D interiors created by The Mill team. We used the MILO motion control unit in Duke Island Studios in West London as the base for this. A fantastic result which was well received in Riyadh by the King, who commissioned this ambitious 5 year project.
