Carrie, the remake of 1976 Brian De Palma's movie based on Stephen King's first novel, by director Kimberly Peirce has met critics praise for its updating the original for the age of Internet, while staying within the same framework, but some critics have complained that the feminist director has remained indifferent to the story's regard for women issues, including the dread of the female body, which, according to New York Times critic, had given depth to Mr. De Palma's version.
