Relentless violence continues in Syria. A deadly blast and clashes have broken out on the outskirts of the capital Damascus as the Arab country continues to grapple with foreign-backed militancy.
Opposition sources say at least sixteen Syrian soldiers have lost their lives and several other people have been injured in Jaramana neighborhood. The area is a pro-government suburb inhabited mostly by Christian and Druze communities. Army units have recently conducted successful clean-up operations across the country, inflicting heavy losses on Takfiri extremists. Syria has been in turmoil since March 20-11. According to the UN, more than 100-thousand people have been killed and millions more displaced in the violence there. Certain Western countries and their regional allies have openly sponsored armed opposition in Syria.
