A documentary about how a photography workshop changes not only how people approach their photography, but also themselves.
Foundation is a documentary film photographed during the first session of the Foundation Workshop in Glen Rose, Texas, in February 2013. For more information about the Workshop please visit their website here fworkshop.com.
Every blog, conversation, email, Facebook post, etc, that I have ever seen about a photographer that attended the Foundation Workshop has always mentioned how it profoundly changed their lives. They mention how the workshop opened their eyes to see not only photographically different, but see their entire world in a new way. I was curious to see what about Foundation Workshop has this profound effect on people, so much so that many of them come back to attend again, volunteer or even teach?
Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the Kickstarter was successfully funded on January 9th 2013. A goal that would of never happened if it wasn’t for the photographers who generously donated their time!
The film was premiered at Foundation Conference 2013 (fconference.com) in Scottsdale Arizona to a group of nearly 150 photographers.
I believe strongly in a minimal footprint during the making of a documentary. The less gear you bring the quicker you can gain access and trust from subjects, and the more in the moment you, yourself are. This whole film was primarily shot with a Canon 6d, a Rokinon 35 1.4 and a Canon 85 1.8. Stabilized by a Manfrotto 561 monopod. Supplemented by a Canon 5d Mark 2, Canon 60d, a Canon 24 1.4, Sigma 70-200, and Sigma 50 2.8. A gopro hero 2 was also used for one shot.
