(Galatians 5:6 KJV) For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
1. You loving God vs. God loving you:
-- The entire letter to the church in Galatia is about human effort (the Law) vs. God’s effort (Grace).
-- Paul’s emphasis is on God and not human effort.
-- Paul is not putting the requirement on you to operate in perfect love.
-- Paul is teaching you that God’s love is perfect towards you!
2. Faith works when you are convinced God loves you:
-- When you are convinced God loves you, you open to heart to His Grace.
-- When you are convinced God loves you, you freely receive His promises to you.
-- When you are convinced God loves you, you know your mistakes do not disqualify you!
3. Receiving God’s love in your heart fuels your faith:
-- For years many preachers (myself included) have preached against emotions, teaching that we must rule our emotions and not allow our emotions to rule us.
-- If we are not careful, we might lead people to temper their emotions to the point where they serve God more with their head than with their heart.
-- Cold-hearted, mind-centered faith is void of true power because it is more head-acknowledgement than heart submission.
4. Have faith in God!
-- Jesus did not teach us to have faith in our faith.
-- Jesus did not teach us to have faith in ourselves.
-- Jesus taught us to have faith in God.
-- When you are convinced God loves you, your confidence will be in Him and not in you!
