Park Life is an inclusive, interactive dance performance, created by SLIDE (South London Inclusive Dance Experience), that evolves from working in London's park spaces.
In July 2013, Park Life was performed in South Norwood Country Park.
On this occasion,18 local residence, aged between 13 and 70 years, disabled and non disabled, including a professional dancer and wheelchair user with Candoco Dance Company, were brought together. Ideas were shared to create a site specific piece of dance over the period of a week, and shared with an audience on the evening of the last day.
Sound and video were recorded daily during rehearsals and presented in the final performance on 5 tablets and as a projection, within the CALAT (Croydon Adult Learning and Training) South Norwood Centre Hall, as a way of showing the piece from different perspectives and revealing the work in process.
SLIDE (South London Inclusive Dance Experience) worked in partnership with CALAT (Croydon Adult Learning and Training).
Funded by Greggs Foundation and Skills Funding Agency.
