One-hundred million dried seeds from Australia's native flora are being preserved in the plant bank for research and restoration.
However, the collection they have is only twenty percent of the native flora and the objective is to have a hundred percent preserved in future. The bank aims to save many native species from extinction by using refrigeration techniques. It also intends to educate younger generations by means of workshops and lectures, and raise awareness of the importance of environmental conservation.
